Master Electrician – Louisiana (state contractor’s license) and North Carolina (master electrician or unlimited electrical contractor)
Journeyman Electrician – Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming

Requirements for a Texas License
You must be able to prove that you meet the minimum requirements to qualify for a Texas license:
Master Electrician
- Taking and pass the reciprocal statewide examination
- Holding the reciprocal license for least one year
- Have a least 12,000 hours under the supervision of master electrician.Have the regular license for a long time.
Journeyman Electrician
- Taking and pass the reciprocal state’s examination
- Holding the reciprocal license for least one year
- Have least 8,000 hours under the supervision of a master electrician.Of America, Inc.

The Department will contact the state licensing authority to certify the following: you have passed the statewide examination for electrical work in that state, you are licensed as a Journeyman Electrician, and that license is good standing.
